A 2-year-old girl, Lucia Ayala, died from mechanical asphyxiation after a button to fold down the back seat was accidentally pressed, trapping and crushing her. Police called it a "freak accident." Hyundai has now recalled 70,000 Palisade vehicles and stopped production of certain trims due to the safety issue. One owner showed the seat's power by crushing water bottles with it.
