The Sudan Crisis: What's really happening?
Just weeks after a military coup overthrew Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, the wave of optimism which filled the capital Khartoum has been replaced with bloodshed.
At least 118 people were killed, according to the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors , when the ruling military council opened fire on pro-democracy protesters.
A total of 188 are believed to have been killed since a military crackdown on June 3rd, with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) taking the lead in the violence.
Activists claim that hospitals and schools have been attacked, dozens of female doctors raped, and many bodies dumped in the river Nile.
Celebrities including George Clooney, Rihanna and Wizkid have used their influence to raise awareness of the conflict, with the Blue for Sudan movement taking off on social media. Posted By Ghost
