34-year-old Canadian radar technician and photographer Christopher Best tragically lost his life after being mauled by polar bears near a remote Arctic outpost.
Just one day before his death, he had posted breathtaking photos of the same bears he’d been tracking from a distance — unaware a second one was hiding nearby.
Investigators say he ignored warning signs and safety advisories after reassuring family that “the bears weren’t close.” Hours later, both bears charged, killing him before help could arrive.
His mother now says his death could have been prevented if proper fencing and safety systems were in place.
