1,500 new recruits of the Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade (ARDB) carried out drills on a remote island in the East China Sea as part of the manoeuvre. Troops will be trained to counter the invasion of a group of islands owned by Japan along the edge of the East China Sea — that Tokyo fears are at risk of an attack from China.
