"We were biking down the Skyline trail at Snowshoe Bike Park Sunday morning, 6/20, and saw the bear cubs off to the right of the trail before one ran out in alongside me. We looked out for the momma bear but didnâ€™t see her around and kept moving. There were 2 other bikers behind me. There had been many recent bear sightings in this area."

Four armed men shot and kidnapped a 26-year-old from Vermont from western Mindanao, the police said. He had been living in the area since May.The man, Elliot Onil Eastman, 26, of Vermont, was abducted from Sibuco, a coastal town on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines. His kidnapping was reported by his father-in-law, AbdulMali Hamsiran Jala, who told the police that four men who were wearing black pants, shirts and face covers forcibly entered Mr. Eastman’s house in the Zamboanga del Norte Province.
